〈THE HABITAT OF SURREAL〉(2023)은 프랑크푸르트의 거리와 공원에 존재하는 나무, 뿌리, 수피, 이끼, 목재 등을 매개로 주관적이고 청각적인 상상을 불러일으키는 오브제 설치 작업이다. 이 작업을 통해 나는 보이지 않는 미생물, 세포, 유기물, 그리고 지하 깊은 곳에서 먼 거리의 대지의 심장 박동과 조우할 수 있는 미시적인 소리와 감각에 대한 상상을 위치시킨다.
〈A SYMMETRICAL FUTURE THAT NO ONE CAN EQUALLY EVER REACH〉(2023)은 공간의 벽과 바닥 전체로 확장되는 설치 작업으로, 장벽과 분리, 경계와 위계로부터 벗어나 위험한 물질 세계 속에서 끊임없이 흐르고 교차하는 사변적이며 우발적인 사건들의 연속으로 구성된다.
〈CHANGE OR TRANS-HIKING〉(2022)은 관객이 초현실적 상상과 연결되고 관계 맺는 방식에 대한 탐구를 확장한 작업이다. 이 프로젝트는 인간, 기계, 동식물, 언어를 갖지 않은 사물-존재들, 그리고 과거-현재-미래의 시간성 사이를 유동하는 동시대의 개념들이 관통하는 초월적 서식지를 구현한다. 나는 미시적 스케일의 사물들이 정치적 주체가 되는 비문법적인 우주론을 펼쳐 보이며, 도시 환경 속 야생동물과 미생물의 은신처에서부터 청각적 환각이 메아리치는 통로, 다른 세계로 이어지는 포털 공간으로서의 지구 깊은 심연에 이르기까지, 상상된 공간들에 물질적 형상을 부여한다.
〈SOMETHING CUE〉(2023)는 2018년 일본의 대규모 광산 지역인 야마구치현 미네(Mine)에서 시작된 땅에 대한 나의 작업 연구를 이어갔다. 이 작업은 독일 서부의 광산 지대를 방문하며 리서치한 나의 텍스트와, 더 이상 산업적으로 활용되지 않아 폐기되었다가 현재는 관광지로 전환된 한국의 자수정 동굴에 관한 장면 등, 아이스크림을 반죽처럼 저어 혼합되는 땅의 질감을 다루는 퍼포먼스의 과정 등을 담고 있다. 〈SOMETHING CUE〉는 2019년 일본의 광산에서 시작된 인간이 땅을 사용하는 방식에 대한 나의 관심을 반영하며, 지하 세계가 인간의 통제를 벗어난 다른 존재들만의 바운더리와, 개미굴처럼 깊게 뻗어나가는 다른 경로, 통로, 그리고 가상 세계로 가는 상상을 이어간다. 이 작업은 인간의 경제 논리와 자본주의적 이윤 가치의 관점에서 약탈되거나 방치되고 소외된 장소들을 경유하며, 자본, 자원, 노동, 에너지, 데이터의 현대적 순환 고리 이면에 존재하는 지층 속 생명과 고고학적 혹은 초월적인 존재들의 이야기를 드러낸다.
THE HABITAT OF SURREAL(2023) is an installation of objects for subjective and auditory imagination on trees, roots, bark, moss, wood, etc. in the streets and parks of Frankfurt. Through them, I situates the imagination of invisible microorganisms, cells, organic matter, and the micro-scopic sounds and sensations that can encounter the heartbeat of the earth at a great distance in the underworld.
A SYMMETRICAL FUTURE THAT NO ONE CAN EQUALLY EVER REACH(2023) spreads across the walls and floor of the space, the installation is a series of speculative and accidental events that, free from barriers and separation, boundaries and ranks are flowing continuously through the dangerous material world.
CHANGE OR TRANS-HIKING(2022) is an extension of what the themes explored in ways viewers connect to and engage with surrealist imagination. This project is an embodiment of a transcendental habitat that threads through the human, the machine, animals and plants, object-things without language, and contemporary liquid concepts flowing through the temporality of the past-present-future. I unfolds an ungrammatical cosmology in which objects on a micro scale become political subjects. This entailed giving material form to imagined spaces, from the hideouts of wild animals and microorganisms in urban landscapes to passageways echoing with auditory hallucinations and the deep abyss of the earth as a portal space leading to other worlds.
The new work SOMETHING CUE(2023) is a continuation of her research on the land that began in 2018 in Mine, a large mining region in Japan. The work is footage from her visits to mining sites in western Germany and the story of an amethyst cave in South Korea that is being used as a tourist attractionafter being abandoned as no longer useful. SOMETHING CUE reflects my interest in the way humans use the land and creates an imagination of a non-human virtual world in which the underground world is beyond human control. Passing through areas that have been plundered, abandoned, or neglected in terms of human economy and capitalistic profit value, the film shows stories of life in the ground, archaeological or transcendental, and beings that exist behind the contemporary loop of capital, resources, labor, energy, and data.
