작업 <앤트힐즈Anthills>은 땅에 대한 작업 연구의 연속선상에서 펼치는 작업 중 하나로서 ‘개미집’이라는 개념을 경유하는 상상을 뻗어나간다. 영상 속에 등장하는 숲, 바위 등의 장소는 굴절된 카메라의 움직임을 통해 또다른 공간이 된다. 영상에 등장하는 원형 통로와 구르는 구체 등은 공간인 동시에 사물이 되고, 또한 세상을 바라보는 뷰 파인더가 된다. 영상에 활용한 360도 카메라는 이러한 나의 공간적 상상을 펼칠 수 있는 방법으로서 내가 머무르고 움직이는 장소들을 끊임없이 변화시킨다. 이 작업은 우리가 살아가는 도시 속 야생동물과 미생물들의 도피처, 환청이 들려오는 통로, 다른 세계로 통하는 총체적 장소로서 대지의 깊은 심연의 공간에 대한 상상을 구현하여 아직 우리가 경험하지 못했으나 우리의 무의식으로 충분히 다다를 수 있는 미지의 영토 아래 가상공간에 대한 이야기를 지속적으로 연구하는 나의 텍스트와 장면의 전개로서 펼쳐내었다.
영상과 혼재된 평면 꼴라주 작업은 최근 3년간 계속 본인의 영상, 퍼포먼스와 함께 전개되고 있는 작업으로서 비문의 우주론이라는 본인의 개념에서 새로운 진화의 시간과 우주 궤도를 만나는 여정을 선사하고자 하였다. 또 다른 규칙과 안무, 운동감으로 연출하여 진화와 시간성, 새로운 역사와 새로운 은유를 만들어나가기 위해 달과 행성을 교차시키는 순간을 표현한 전작의 퍼포먼스는 새로운 규칙과 질서가 시작되는 하나의 ‘우주적인 사건’, ‘또 하나의 시작’을 의미하는 도상들의 향연을 이미지로 보여준다. 이 행성들의 새로운 운행은 우리가 알고 있는 공전 주기나 행성의 궤도를 이탈하는 다른 사건들로 은유하고자 하였으며, 별의 중첩과 행성의 도래를 꼴라주로 연출, 구성한 24점의 피스과 설치, 무빙이미지가 혼재된 전시공간 속 나의 또다른 우주론은 우리 곁에 보이지 않게 끊임없이 계속되는 신비적인 사건들을 묘사하고자 하였다.
<Anthills> is one of the works developed as part of an ongoing research project centered on the land, extending its imagination through the concept of the anthill. In the video, locations such as forests and rocks are transformed into other spaces through refracted camera movements. Circular passages and rolling spheres that appear in the film function simultaneously as spaces and objects, and also as viewfinders through which the world is perceived. The 360-degree camera used in the work serves as a method for unfolding these spatial imaginations, continuously transforming the places in which I dwell and move.
This work materializes an imagination of the deep abyss of the land as a comprehensive site—one that functions as a refuge for wild animals and microorganisms within the city, as a corridor through which auditory hallucinations emerge, and as a passageway to other worlds. Through the unfolding of texts and scenes, the work continues my investigation into virtual spaces beneath unknown territories that we have not yet experienced, but which our unconscious can nonetheless reach.
The flat collage works interwoven with the video have been developed over the past three years alongside my videos and performances. Emerging from my concept of an ungrammatical cosmology, these works propose a journey that encounters new evolutionary times and cosmic orbits. A previous performance—directed through alternative rules, choreographies, and senses of movement—expressed moments in which the moon and planets intersect, generating evolution, temporality, new histories, and new metaphors. These moments were presented as a constellation of images signifying a “cosmic event” or “another beginning,” in which new rules and orders come into being.
The new trajectories of these planets metaphorically allude to events that deviate from familiar cycles of revolution and established planetary orbits. Through a constellation of twenty-four pieces—collages staging the overlap of stars and the arrival of planets, installations, and moving images—the exhibition space unfolds another cosmology of my own, seeking to depict the mysterious events that continue invisibly and incessantly alongside us.
